What is hydrological cycle?

The cycle consists of evaporation, condensation and precipitation. This constant movement of water is known as hydrological cycle or water cycle.

What is the percentage of freshwater and saline water?

Only 3% of resource is freshwater (water that contains very little dissolved salts)and the rest 97% is saline water.

Name the major water bodies

Pacific ocean,Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Arctic ocean, Southern Ocean.

What is circulation of ocean water?

Ocean water is constantly moving either in horizontal or vertical direction. This movement is caused due to factors such as temperature, salinity, density and prevailing winds.

Ø What is a crest and a trough?

Upper part of the wave is called crest and the lower part is called trough.

What causes waves?

  Waves are caused by winds

 What is a crest?

Crest is the upper part of a wave.

and the moon are at right angles with regards to the earth this results in low

tides. These are called neap tides

· Mention any 1 importance of tides.

Tides help in fishing, tides are a source of energy ( etc).
