III. Which of the following words can be used to describe the kind of life the vagabond
wants:
adventurous, carefree
difficult , solitary
always on the move
IV. Answer briefly.
1. Do you think the poet loves nature? Give reasons.
Yes, the poet definitely loves nature because he repeatedly stresses on the point
that he wants to live amidst nature. All that the vagabond is interested in is a life of
unlimited travel. He says that he would like to spend his entire life in the outdoors
even in the cold autumn and winter months with the sky as his roof.
2. The poet says ‘biting the blue finger’. Why is the finger blue?
The finger is blue because of the cold. When exposed to cold temperatures, the
blood supply to the fingers or toes is depleted and the skin color turns blue.
3. What does the poet mean when he says, ‘Not to autumn will I yield, not to winter
even!’?
The poet is so passionate about his life amidst nature that he is ready to bear the
frost bite of autumn and winter but not submit to the dire consequences of such an
existence.

ReplyDeleteThanks you lot for the answer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the answers but I have a doubt regarding anothr figure of speech in the same line - 'Let the blow fall soon or late'. It is Antitheses for sure, but one of my friend suggested "Personification" as the human quality of 'falling' has been mentioned for the word 'blow'. The meaning of the whole line means - it doesn't matter when I die, soon or late.
