Olivia is the countess of Illyria. After the death of her brother Countess Olivia has
declared that she will be in mourning for seven years, she wears a veil over her face
to demonstrate this. She is reluctant to see anyone, especially Orsino who is trying
desperately to make her fall in love with him.

2. Choose one character from the play. Explain how this character progressed through
the play and what changes occurred to alter the character’s beliefs, values, or
goals in life.
