Q1: How and why tumour is caused?

Ans:  Our body grows when cells in our body give rise to new cells. Cells have a unique mechanism to know when to stop producing new cells and when to start. However, when cells lose this unique ability, they keep producing new cells, which results in formation of unwanted mass of cells in the body. This mass is nothing but tumour which may or may not lead to cancer.

Q2: Write about contribution of A.V. Leeuwenhoeck and Robert Hooke in discovery of cell.

Ans: A. V. Leeuwenhoeck (1632-1723) constructed the basic microscope to see bacteria from his own mouth.

The term ‘cell’ was first coined by Robert Hooke in 1665 while examining a thin slice of cork that resembled boxes of honeycomb.

The study of cells is called cell biology.
